What Do We Believe?
St Jakobi Lutheran Church is a congregation of the
of
Synod
. We believe that God has revealed himself to us in
the Holy Bible. The Old and New Testaments are the
inspired and inerrant Word of God and thus the source of
our life and teaching.
Our congregation believes the
is a clear
explanation of the Scriptures' essential teachings on God,
Jesus, salvation, and the Christian life and we hold to the
Historic Confessions of our Faith,
- Apostles' Creed, Nicene Creed, and
Athanasian Creed.
We believe that all men are sinners and cannot be saved
by their own works, but only through faith in Jesus Christ.
(Ephesians 2:8-10 For it is by grace you have been saved,
through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of
God not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are
God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do.)
These phrases—Witness, Mercy,
church lives and works together to
proclaim the Gospel and to provide
for our brothers and sisters in Christ
in our congregations, communities
and throughout the world. And in
all we do, Christ is at the center, us
focused on our mission. This will
never change.
